Six Mobile Movie Games for Summer

The temperature’s rising, sale of ice cream is up, and liberated school kids everywhere are pouring into movie theaters to beat summer boredom. With every major new film release, a licensed mobile game can’t be far behind.

While some of these games are of a lesser quality than original mobile titles, they represent one of the most lucrative markets for mobile game makers. Movie games come with a built-in fan base, and are often part of a coordinated marketing effort from movie studios and license holders.

Here are a few mobile movie games we’re keeping an eye on for this summer.

Iron Man
As a top-down shooter, Iron Man isn’t especially strong, but the text cut-scenes spell out pretty much every minor plot detail you’d care to read about. Four stages of flying over the same type of mounted guns can get a bit dull if you’re not a big fan of this type of arcade shooter.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

This mobile game, which is set entirely in the Amazon, has Indy and his son Mutt looking for keys to a lost city. First, Indy has to find a door (he can’t jump around, but he does use his whip to clear gaps) and then Mutt makes a mad dash for the key.
